Program Description:

As part of the County Fair Opening Ceremonies, the County Farm Bureau hosted a "Root Beer Float Social." This event is just one example of the ongoing support provided by the County Farm Bureau for their local 4-H and FFA programs.

Root beer floats were served to visitors following the opening ceremonies which included fair exhibitors as well as other friends, family members, and fair spectators. Complimentary floats were offered up in farm bureau memorabilia which included information on how to become a member of the farm bureau organization. Participants were provided with additional information on member benefits, county and state involvements and successes, and youth educational activity books.

The County Farm Bureau identified the need to develop a deeper rapport between the County Farm Bureau and the community as well as providing a fellowship opportunity for current and future farm bureau members.

The County Farm Bureau's main objective and goal throughout this event was to educate participants on what the local farm bureau's role is within their community, as well as inform them of the comprehensive benefits of being a member of the farm bureau organization. The County Farm Bureau realized that beyond sponsoring awards at the county fair that they have never had an interactive event at their fair where they could engage with community members and spread the word on what they do to promote and support agriculture in their county.
